01/11/2024 We welcome Svetalana to the group! Her project is part of the DFG-funded Research Training Group (Graduiertenkolleg) “Photopolarizable Membranes and Interfaces” Phint, GRK 3014 here at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena.
During her PhD she will investigate mutual effect between the lattice flexibility of porous Metal-Organic Frameworks and photoswitchable guest molecules by optical and dielectric spectroscopy.
Looking forward to a great time together doing groundbreaking research!
25/02/2024 Oksana recieved the MOF 2024 Early Career Award. Alex recommended her, as she made truly outstanding contributions to the field of MOF-glass, and the committee of The International MOF Commission agreed on it! Congratulations for this outstanding achievement!

We also got a highlight by Georgia R. F. Orton & Prof. Neil R. Champness “Through the MOF looking glass”check it out!
20/12/2023 Oksana’s paper on the precise control over gas transporting channels in ZIF-62-glasses has been published in Nature Material! A great team effort with colleagues from University of Leipzig and the University of Vienna. Also, see our Friedrich Schiller University Jena News Article.
26/10/2023 Oksana was awarded with an award for her “outstanding oral presentation” at IZMM 2023m in Nanjing, China! Thanks to Prof. Xuerui Wang for the official handover. Congratulations Oksana!
24/10/2023 Alex was awarded a medal for his outstanding contribution to the International Zeolite Membrane Meeting 2023 in Nanjing, China! Thanks to Prof. Dan Zhao from the National University Singapure for the official handover on the conference venue. Thanks to all group members who made this possible.
21/04/2023 A photograph of Bahram (left), who successfully defended his PhD thesis! Many thanks to his main examiners Prof. Dr. Christof Wöll (middle), Prof. Dr. Stefan Bräse (right).
The first PhD from the Knebel group! All the best on your future journey, Bahram!

DZT 34 in Vienna. Oksana persented her poster, Alex gave his talk and we all had nice dicussions with the other participants. The German Zeolite Conference is always fun, every year again and is always a great success. Thanks to everyone.
Oksana’s pre-print is online and went out to review. Keep fingers crossed for a positive feedback! Precise control over gas transporting channels in zeolitic imidazolate framework glasses

An interview with Süddeutsche Zeitung about porous water “Wie man Wasser mit Löchern herstellt” (GER). A great experience, as communicating science is one of the most important things in a world full of desinformation.
A full success on the MOF 2022 conference! 5 Posters, 1 session to chair, and 1 invited talk was delivered by us. On the picture below you can see Oksana explaining her poster at the poster party
